Adult and Pediatric Hearing Evaluations
We perform testing appropriate for all ages. Our Audiologists have extensive education and specialized training in prevention, assessment and treatment of non-medical hearing disorders. Accurate diagnosis of type, degree and configuration of a hearing loss is essential to determining the best treatment method.
A hearing evaluation may include the following tests:
- Air conduction testing
- Bone conduction testing
- Speech testing
- Visual reinforcement audiometry/conditioned play audiometry
- Distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAE) testing
- Auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing
- Tympanometry or acoustic reflex testing
The hearing evaluation is covered by most health insurance policies, though you may need a referral from your primary care physician to qualify for coverage.
The ENT Center and The Hearing Center combine to give you the convenience and coordination of a one-stop resource for all of your ear, nose and throat health and hearing needs.
Hearing Loss Prevention
Your career, your hobbies, your everyday life can present you with both expected and unexpected issues that can affect healthy hearing. For example, the Lancaster area has a vibrant manufacturing industry that provides great jobs to many residents. But these jobs sometimes come with a noisy environment.
What’s more, hobbies that many in our community enjoy, from hunting to motorcycling, can also affect your hearing.
The good news is that, with the right protection, you can make your working and recreational life safer in ways that prevent hearing loss. Being proactive about your hearing is the best protection. Even if you believe you are free of hearing issues now, you want to stay that way. That’s why, at The Hearing Center, we’re proud to provide the Lancaster area with a full line of products to protect your ears from water or noise.
